“Manchurians are often the First Casualty."
The summary of a recent interview with Li Jiaming, the Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Manchu State:
"Ethnic Religions and Cultures Extinction in China.
We talked about the Tibetan Buddhism, East Turkistan's culture, and especially the Manchu Shamanism are on the verge of extinction.
In the early days of the Qing Dynasty, Nurhaci regarded Shamanism as the State Religion with protection measures to perserve a good cultural heritage, and united various tribes.
Unfortunately, in recent years, many people even never heard of Shamanism and even thought it is a scam.
The loss of elements that are unique and vital to the identity of a group of people.
Manchurians are often the first casualty, as their Religion, Culture, Custom, Tradition has already faded away or assimilated by colonizers.
Even the name is officially replaced as "Dong Bei" (Northeast of China).
The disappearance of cultural diversity and disconnection from heritage diminishes the richness and variety of humankind.
We have lost not only valuable historical records and knowledge, but most importantly a loss of Identity of being a proud Manchurian!
Today, I want to tell you that you are not "Dong Bei" (Northeast of China) people, you are proud Manchurian!!”
